2026
Harrandt Automation

Feinwerktechnik Otto Harrandt GmbH becomes Harrandt Automation GmbH. This name change reflects the company's strategic transformation from its original expertise in precision mechanics and measurement technology to a technology enabler for intelligent production solutions.

We combine maximum precision with smart automation and future-proof technology. In doing so, we create solutions that open up new opportunities for our customers and sustainably improve processes.

For intelligent processes and the production of tomorrow.

2020s
Technological Expertise for New Markets

Harrandt is strategically developing and opening up new technology fields and markets. A new portfolio is emerging for e-mobility with wire and stator testing as well as laser welding systems. New solutions are also being developed for large pistons in stationary applications.

At the same time, expertise in automation and robotics is continuously being expanded. Measurement, assembly, and automation systems are now being developed for a wide range of industries.

2017
A New Location for Further Growth

Harrandt now employs around 100 people. With the move to Leutenbach-Nellmersbach into the new company buildings, offering almost 5,000 m² of production, office, and usable space, the company creates room for further growth and new developments.

The new location marks another milestone in the company's history and forms the basis for Harrandt's next steps in development.

2010s
International to World Market Leader

Through consistent internationalisation and the continuous expansion of our product lines, Harrandt developed into a world market leader. Today, renowned automotive and piston manufacturers worldwide are among our customers.

Harrandt machines are in use in 26 countries. More than one million pistons are tested and assembled on them daily. Since its founding, over 1,500 machines have already been manufactured. This is proof of our experience, innovative strength, and international prowess.

2000s
New Markets and Applications in the Piston Sector

With the further development of piston technology, the demands on measurement, testing, and assembly technology also increased. The modular system was continuously expanded and supplemented with new technologies. This led to the creation of, among other things, ultrasonic and camera modules, as well as solutions for spring plate assembly, and thus an ever-increasing variety of flexibly combinable modules.

Harrandt expanded its customer base beyond the traditional passenger car business for the first time. New applications emerged for both chainsaw pistons and the commercial vehicle sector. This significantly increased the spectrum of processed pistons to 30 to 175 mm in diameter, and with it, the demands on our measurement, testing, and assembly technology.

1999
New Leadership, New Markets

Otto Harrandt withdraws from operational business.

Harrandt continues its growth trajectory and realised its first international projects.

1990s
Modular and Fully Automated

With the modular system design, production facilities became even more flexible. Various measurement, testing, and assembly machines could be individually combined and linked to form fully automated production lines. This resulted in tailor-made solutions that could be flexibly adapted to different products and requirements.

1980s
The Step Towards Automated Technology

The automation of assembly and measurement machines was consistently driven forward. The machines evolved from pneumatic to electrical control, opening up new possibilities for more precise and powerful processes.

With the growing company, the company headquarters also relocated to Waiblingen. Another important step in Harrandt's development.

1970s
First Measurement and Assembly Machines

The development of the first pneumatic measuring machine for measuring pistons laid the foundation in measurement technology. Shortly thereafter, the first manually operated assembly machine for assembling piston rings and connecting rods followed, which also operated pneumatically.

This laid the groundwork for combining precise measurement technology with automated assembly processes.

1960s
First Orders

The first orders came from piston manufacturers and led to the development of our first own products: various stamping devices for the automated marking of pistons. Depending on the piston diameter and weight, the pistons were individually marked. An early step towards automated, reliable, and precise production processes.

1958
The History
From Inventive Spirit to Turnkey Solution Provider

The history of Feinwerktechnik Otto Harrandt began in 1958 with true engineering passion. In a garden shed, Otto Harrandt developed his first stamping device for automotive pistons with great technical ambition. What began as a precise individual solution on a small scale laid the foundation for a company that still stands for measurement accuracy, process understanding, and technical innovation.
